Our mission is to build local capacity for addressing oral health issues in New York State by providing oral health needs assessment, stakeholder education, mobilization of community partnerships and resources, and facilitating implementation of evidence-based oral health prevention as well as best practice approaches.
Hiroko Iida, DDS, MPH
Dr. Hiroko Iida is the Director of OHCE, spearheading the center projects and research. She has worked on various maternal and child oral health projects as well as research. Over the last several years, she has served the Association of State & Territorial Dental Directors as a member of Perinatal Oral Health Committee and led the development of the best practice approach report.
Dr. Iida received her dental degree from Kagoshima University in Japan and also earned a Master’s in Public Health from University of Illinois at Chicago. She received her dental public health training at the New York State Department of Health and is a diplomate of American Board of Dental Public Health. Dr. Iida has taught pre- and post-doctoral students on pediatric dentistry, dental public health, and cariology as an educator and dedicated her professional work to underserved population as a clinician and researcher. She is appointed an adjunct faculty in the Division of Community Dentistry at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester.
Lori Shaw, RDH, MAED
Ms. Lori Shaw is the Project Coordinator of OHCE School Oral Health Programs. Ms. Shaw received her dental hygiene degree from Monroe Community College (MCC) and is an adjunct faculty member at MCC for dental studies program. She earned her Bachelor's degree from State University of New York at Oswego and her Master's in Health Education from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. Ms. Shaw is a member of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.
